The International Services Office (ISO) is committed to enriching the student life experience of all GW international students and scholars through programming and hosts a wide variety of events each academic year.

ISO Global Insider Monthly Newsletter

Pre-Arrival New International Student Webinars
Join the ISCAs to learn all about life as an international student at GW! This comprehensive webinar will go over common questions that new international students may have about living in DC and attending GW. Additionally, we'll provide information about resources and support services available to you!
New International Student Orientation
Newly admitted GW students in F-1 Student status are required to attend our mandatory in-person New International Student Orientation. At orientation, you will learn essential information related to maintaining your immigration status as well as benefits that are available to you as an international student at GW.
OPT (Optional Practical Training) Workshop
Are you interested in employment in the U.S. following completion of your program? We invite you to join this in-person workshop hosted by the ISO’s expert advisors to learn how to obtain post-graduation work authorization while on an F-1 visa.
J-1 Employment Workshop
This workshop is for J-1 international students only. Join this in-person workshop to learn about employment and academic training opportunities and how to maintain your status while working. J-2 work authorization procedures will also be discussed.
International Student & Scholar Tax Workshop
Join the GW Tax Department to learn important information about how to file your taxes as an international student at GW
STEM OPT Webinar
Students who hold degrees in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) may be eligible to apply for a 24-month extension of Optional Practical Training (OPT), in addition to their 12-month Post-Completion OPT. Join us to learn how to apply and let one of our expert ISO advisors walk you through eligibility, the application process, and more!
CPT (Curricular Practical Training) Workshop
Do you plan to work or participate in internships during your time as an international student at GW? We invite you to join this in-person workshop hosted by the ISO’s expert advisors to learn how to obtain work authorization while on an F-1 visa.
Networking Webinar
Join the International Student Community Ambassadors (ISCAs) to learn about the #1 job search strategy: networking! We will help you identify strategies to develop your verbal communication skills so that you can effectively promote yourself to potential employers.
International Student & Alumni Networking Night (ISANN)
ISANN, hosted by the ISO, the Center for Career Services, and the Office of Alumni Relations provides an opportunity for current GW international students to connect with alumni who attended GW as international students.
This event is not specific to any one career-path or school, but rather an opportunity for you to practice the act of networking with our global community. Don't miss this opportunity to learn first-hand from alumni about how to best market yourself to employers and possible strategies for overcoming potential challenges in seeking employment domestically and internationally.
Job Search Webinar with the ISCAs
Join the International Student Community Ambassadors (ISCA) for this webinar about the job and internship search process as an international student. We will discuss useful tips and share resources available to you to help you effectively search and apply for jobs and internships.

Careers in Bloom: International Student Resume Workshop
As the academic year comes to a close, don't miss out on this opportunity to polish your resume! Take advantage of this resume workshop held by the International Services Office, ISCAs, and the Center for Career Services specifically for international students.
Please note that attendance is first come, first served, and workshop review sessions will be 15-minutes. Please have your resume ready for review on your laptop, tablet, or in printed form. We can't wait to help you put the finishing touches on your resume!
ISO Mocktail Social
