Yanjun is from Beijing, China, with several years of full-time experience in international trade and commodity sales. Prior to her professional career, she interned at various institutions, including government, news agencies, and the Olympic Organizing Committee. Before coming to GW, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Russian, as well as master’s degrees in Journalism and Finance. She brings a diverse background and strong skills in trade, finance, marketing, policy research, media communication, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Her goal as an ISCA is to connect with more international students by organizing events and offering peer advising opportunities. As an international student returning to academia after years in the workforce, she hopes to use her journey to inspire and support others who are brave enough to step out of their comfort zones and pursue academic and professional growth. She is passionate about creating spaces where students can explore how to enhance academic performance, navigate career transitions, and find their path in a highly competitive global environment.
Outside of school and work, Yanjun runs 5 kilometers every day and has completed two half marathons. She finds joy in both video game time at home and exciting journeys around the world. Having visited over 20 countries, her next travel goals include Africa, Antarctica, and discovering more of the United States.
