Rakhee Roy

International Student Community Ambassador (ISCA)

Home Country: India

GW School / Program: CCAS, MS in Physics

Rakhee is a second-year graduate student from Mumbai, India, currently pursuing her Master’s in Physics at the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences. As a woman in STEM, she’s passionate about not only breaking barriers but also helping others feel like they belong in spaces where they might feel unseen.

Moving to the U.S. was a turning point. The cultural shift, homesickness, and search for belonging weren’t easy, but those experiences became her motivation to step up for others. As an ISCA, Rakhee wants to be the person she once needed: someone students can turn to, whether they’re struggling with academics, adjusting to life in a new country, or just looking for a familiar kind of warmth in an unfamiliar place.

Outside of academics, Rakhee draws intricate mandala art, bakes, and plays the piano when she needs to slow down. She loves horror and thriller novels, and on quiet evenings, K-dramas and C-dramas are her go-to comfort. Kind, grounded, and always ready to help, Rakhee hopes to create a space where every international student feels seen, supported, and a sense of home at GW.
