International Student Ambassadors (ISA)

What Is an International Student Ambassador (ISA)?

Our International Student Ambassadors (ISAs) serve as a welcoming committee during orientation for our new international students at George Washington University. The ISAs remain active after orientation and throughout the semester by helping in various leadership roles with events and programs hosted by the International Services Office. We seek international students who are empathetic and energetic, and who understand what it feels like to be a new student on campus. As we welcome around 1,000 new international students every year, our International Student Ambassadors are integral to assisting us during orientation by assisting with the registration process, by assisting in facilitating sessions for students, by answering  general questions about GW and about the DC area, and by providing a friendly face to new students on campus.

How Our International Ambassadors Are Selected

Our selection process for International Student Ambassadors involves an application and interview process at the end of the spring semester. We select students who demonstrate a desire to help new students, who are interculturally sensitive, and who are passionate about their experience at GW. We also encourage our ambassadors to be involved with our office throughout the year by participating in various outings and events we coordinate for our students. Our International Student Ambassadors describe their experience as being rewarding and as a way for them to give back to GW. We thank all of our current and former ambassadors for their dedication to helping new students adjust to GW. We couldn’t do it without you!
